Links for Kindle Games

There is a little advertised set of buttons you can press on your Kindle to find a fun game. Press Home, then Up arrow, Alt and M together and you will discover two in-built games for the Kindle. There were fun enough to keep a child quiet on a bus for a short while, before he wanted a more active game, hence the reason I made this list!

My Book on Kindles

http://www.portablequest.com is a text adventure game that lets your explore a fantasy world, load and save games and play on the move. The site was fun, and reminds you of the games that were kicking around in the 80's.

http://www.tammyyee.com/games.html Free javascript games. Checkers, connect 4, president, president hangman, tic tac toe, tic-tac-toe, zodiac games for kids on a Kindle.

http://www.kidsofthecross.com includes concentration and association games to test the player's memory.

http://def-logic.com has a wide range of JavaScript games to play. Make sure you choose one which has letters to control the game, as your Kindle mouse pad does not give them the arrow keys needed.

http://www.kielack.de/games Play instantly, online, Solitair, Taipei, Battleships, connect four and many more. Games are programmed, by Armin Kielack, in Javascript.

http://www.sean.co.uk/a/javascriptgames for Javascript toys including Wild Mood Swings, Toast, Wallbuster and Fingerpaint. The adverts get in the way of some games, but others are fine.

http://jsgames.sourceforge.net/tictactoe.html for Javascript tic tac toe game for bored children.

http://jsgames.sourceforge.net/hilo.html for Guess my number.

Hangman game a really fun, if rather graphic hangman game!

Guess my number gives you 6 guesses to find a missing number.

http://valums.com/game gives you a shooting game.

http://wap.cellufun.com/ has lots of great games to play on your Kindle.

Here is a free Kindle game application to search for in Amazon - "Word Morph Volume 1: transform the starting word one letter at a time until you spell the ending word (Word Puzzles Optimized for Kindle) (Mobi Games)". I didn't give the link as it may well change over time.

Using a Kindle book reader as a gaming device

The Kindle was never designed as a hand held gaming device, but as a book reader. It hence takes quite a bit of time and effort to find great Javascript games to play, which don't need a mouse, arrow keys or number keys to play. I think I have done well in my selection, and I really do hope you enjoy them as much as I did. By logging into these sites, you can now give your Kindle to children in the back seat of a car and let them play quietly when they are clearly on in the mood to read or draw.

While I have found a lot of Kindle games links, I am really keen to find even more of them! Of course if you happen to know of any great links, I would really love to know more about them and perhaps include them on this page in the future. If you find any of the pages stop working, please also let me know, so I can remove and replace them with other pages.
