Using a Kindle Amazon reader to improve a child's education
I have a plan - more of a plea really. I would love to start to use Amazon Kindle's in the Romanian classrooms. I have set up a number of websites and emailed more people than I care to think about about this idea. I want to raise enough money to buy 12 3G Kindles for my English class, based in a Romanian school. I love reading, and I know Romanian children will really benefit from being able to access as many English stories, text books and pictures as possible. For every 30 people sending me around 5 pounds towards my aim, I will be able to afford to add one more Kindle to the class collection. If you want to help us, I have a deal you might like. I will help a teacher friend of your write all their school reports (using a desktop computer) in record time at http://www.freeducation.co.uk if they or you donate some money to my cause. You could just donate and ask for nothing in return if you prefer.
As you can see on this page, the Kindle is ready to be used as a fresh source of information for students. The number of free text books and resources is constantly growing. My new innovative idea of providing a Kindle to every child today looks really forward thinking and innovative - within 10 years this idea will be standard, a bit like my bringing projectors and whiteboards into the classroom 10 years ago (again self-funding it all!), and look now - it is rare for a Western classroom not to have a projector, interactive whiteboard and a networked computer.
Please think again of leaving me a donation at http://www.freeducation.co.uk and let me introduce Romanian children to a new bright and shining future!
If you know of any other great educational, Kindle ready websites I could feature here. Likewise of course, please tell me if I do have any dead links, so I can remove them and replace them with new exciting resources.
